Born in 1902,
he truly begins his career in 1920 when he enters the
workshop of Paul Dumas. He completes his formation by
working as a drawer for the fashion designer, Madeleine
Vionnet. He creates for her, from 1925 to 1930, the design
of her various houses. In that purpose, he will apply to the
talent of J. M. Frank, Pierre Chareau or Jean Dunand, but he
will also creates furniture himself. The modernity of his
style lays in very geometrical lines and few
ornaments. From his numerous creations,
the lightings will be the most famous. In 1927, already,
during his participation to the ‘Salon des Artistes
Décorateurs’ and to the ‘Salon d’Automne’, he will present
some lightings which will immediately seduce the public: his
perfect use of glass and metal, fits to chandelier, sconces
and lamps.
